Loïc Guichaoua (TBS 2015) : The spread that saves the rainforest

28 September 2020 Portraits

Climate change, social injustice, deforestation, animal welfare, plastic pollution...
There are plenty of problems to tackle!

Loïc Guichaoua ( TBS 2015) is convinced that citizens, companies and associations have the power to change the world. With his partner Thibaut Manent, he has decided to fight to preserve the Amazon and save the dozens of species that live there, by offering a product that is familiar to everyone: spread.

The problem with the spread is the palm oil used to manufacture the product. Over the past 20 years, palm oil has invaded our cupboards as the world's most profitable oil. But palm oil cultivation means that 25 orangutans disappear every day. If nothing is done within 10 years, they will have disappeared completely from the wild.

Faced with this urgent need, Loïc and Thibaut created their first product, called Papa Outang: a spread that donates 10% of its profits to Kalaweit, an association that buys up hectares of tropical forest to transform them into nature reserves.

The aim is to raise €50,000 to acquire hectares of the Dulan forest to save hundreds of orangutans, gibbons, crocodiles and other species.

The more bags they sell, the more hectares they can secure!

Every 1,000 pre-sold sachets means 10,000m2 of forest protected from the clutches of industry. And at the time of writing, over 50,000m2 of forest have already been saved.

Spread to save the forest!

Papa Outang is a preparation for spreads. Made from natural ingredients and free from palm oil, it takes just two minutes to prepare. Simply mix the contents of the sachet with vegetable/animal milk over low heat in a saucepan, and you're ready to go.

The recipe uses just 3 organic and ethical ingredients (hazelnuts, rapadura and cocoa). No more unnecessary fats, suspect additives or poor-quality ingredients. Papa Outang is one of the few oil-free spreads made in the South of France. Papa Outang has an inimitable taste, far from the copies of the spread leader, and stands out for its creamy texture and crunchy hazelnut bits.

Offering a product that is both better for people and committed to preserving nature is the challenge that Loïc and his partner are taking up.

You can help Papa Outang save the Amazon by participating in the Ulule campaign: It's right here!

Love it
